About This Space

Somewhere Different Blackpool is a coworking coliving house in a restored Victorian family home (later the Andora Hotel) purpose-built for digital nomads. The 4-storey house on Lonsdale Road has 14 bedrooms (mostly singles, some doubles and one ensuite), a large communal kitchen with 4 fridges and dedicated shelves for each guest, and two dedicated coworking rooms. Founder Duncan Ridgley, a former long-term nomad, created it so remote workers can focus during the week and explore real Northern England at the weekends. Max 17 guests. Hotel-registered with 90-day max stay in any 180. Proof of digital nomad status required.

The Community 🤙

A tight-knit group of solo digital nomads (typically 10-17) who work hard Monday-Friday and play together on weekends. Highlights include Friday evening Show & Tell presentations followed by nights out at Blackpool's famous theatres (Funny Girls, cabaret) or bars with £1.60 pints; Saturday group day trips exploring the Lancashire countryside, horse riding, classic English villages like Poulton-le-Fylde or classy Lytham; and Sunday communal dinners where arriving guests cook a dish from their home country. The beach is a 5-minute walk for morning coffee or sunset walks. It's hostel culture meets focused remote work — you instantly become part of the community.

Coworking Space 💻

Two purpose-designed coworking rooms in the Victorian house deliver a professional yet relaxed environment. The main ground-floor room (former living room with original bar) has 10 desks, each with Ethernet to the 1,000 Mbps fibre connection, library-quiet rules 8am-6pm weekdays. The basement quiet room has 7 desks and is library rules 24/7 (no calls). Every bedroom also has a desk and fast WiFi for private Zoom calls. Real-world speeds often 800+ Mbps up/down. Only verified digital nomads stay here, creating natural peer accountability. No day passes or cafe traffic.
